King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark made a warm appearance yesterday as they made the first stop on their summer tour.
The royal couple – who have been plagued by rumours of marital troubles over the past year – appeared in high spirits during their visit to Bornholm.
The pair were pictured sampling local produce and chatting to small business owners during their tour of the tiny island 105 miles southeast of Copenhagen
During their engagement, Frederik and Mary were photographed laughing and smiling together and later wrote on Instagram how Bornholm lived up to its nickname of “sun island”.
Queen Mary, 52, looked stylish and effortless in a white shirt, rust-coloured trousers and chunky trainers.

The mother of four styled her brunette hair in her signature brown waves and completed her understated ensemble with minimalist jewelry and tortoiseshell sunglasses.
Meanwhile, King Frederik, 56, looked dapper in a fitted blue shirt, brown trousers and boots.
Members of the Danish Royal Family have traveled the country on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog every summer for the past 100 years.
This is the first time Frederik and Mary have embarked on a summer tour as reigning monarchs – following the king’s accession to the throne in January.
Last year it was Frederik’s mother, Queen Margarethe, 84, who completed the boat trip.
In December 2023, Queen Margrethe shocked the nation and many royal watchers around the world when she used her annual New Year’s Eve speech to announce live on television that she was stepping down as Queen after 52 years.
This made Margaret the first monarch to abdicate the Danish throne in 900 years and led to speculation that the royals had taken the decision to keep their daughter-in-law, who is hugely popular with the public, by their side.
The announcement comes just weeks after Frederik made headlines when he was photographed on a night out in Madrid with a Mexican socialite, sparking rumors of an alleged “affair.”

The former monarch signed her historic abdication papers with her son and grandson Prince Christian, 18, in attendance at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen.
The Queen’s last words before leaving the Council of State were: “God save the King.”
The 23-year romance between Australian-born Mary and Frederik has often been dubbed a “real-life fairytale” after they met in a Sydney pub.
But pictures have emerged of the monarch enjoying a night out with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova – former daughter-in-law of the billionaire Duchess of Alba – in November last year.
The couple were seen walking around Madrid before heading to her apartment building, changing clothes and heading out again for the night.
Queen Mary of Denmark cut a stylish figure as she joined King Frederik X for the Danish monarch’s annual summer cruise on Monday.

The Danish palace has refused to comment on rumours of an affair between Frederik and Genoveva, but the socialite has vehemently denied any suggestion of a romantic relationship.
The Royal Yacht Dannebrog has served as the Danish Royal Family’s cruise ship since May 1932 and has traveled over 800,000 miles.
The luxury yacht hosts the Royal Family both on their private vacations and during official engagements abroad.
The yacht’s royal compartment still contains furniture and fittings dating back to 1879 that were aboard the family’s former yacht.
After visiting Bornholm and hosting a reception on board the yacht last night, the royal couple will sail to Ærø Municipality.
