‘Call Me Bae’ Trailer: Ananya Panday Goes From Heiress To Prostitute In Her Series Debut

The Prime Video India trailer Call me love features Ananya Panday in her series debut as Bae, whose comfortable life as an heiress is turned upside down after she is disowned by her family.

The trailer for Call me love opens with scenes from Bella ‘Bae’ Chowdhary’s life of extravagance and privilege in New Delhi. “Seven luxury cars, a chopper and a fairytale wedding,” Bae gushes in the trailer.

However, Bae is soon rejected by her family and ends up in Mumbai, where she must now create a different life for herself. She interviews for a job as a journalist and forms unexpected friendships and alliances.

The eight-part series also features Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra and Mini Mathur.

Premiering worldwide on September 6, the Hindi series on Prime Video also offers dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

Directed by Collin D’Cunha and created by Ishita Moitra, Call me love It was produced by Dharmatic Entertainment with Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra as executive producers.

“From the beginning, I knew Call me love “It was a project I wanted to be a part of. Even without hearing the script, I knew this was going to be something special,” Panday said. “As an actor, it’s always exciting and rewarding to play a multifaceted character like Bae. There’s more to Bae than meets the eye, and that’s what makes her journey from heiress to drug lord both compelling and intriguing. Despite the challenges she faces, she remains true to herself, maintaining her innocence and zest for life. That authenticity is what drew me to the role. This is my first long-form original series, and I couldn’t have asked for a better director than Collin or a more supportive cast.”

Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals, Prime Video India, said, “At Prime Video, we strive to bring you stories that spark conversation. Call me love is a charming yet insightful series that highlights the importance of self-discovery in overcoming life’s challenges, all told through the journey of a character that will captivate and enthrall, brought to life by Ananya in the most spectacular way. Our long-standing partnership with Dharmatic Entertainment has been rewarding, and collaborating with them again on Call me love It’s been fantastic.”

D’Cunha added: “Driving Call me love “It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey. The idea of taking a fish out of water and watching it evolve is fresh and engaging, making it a standout coming-of-age story. What really captivated me was the main character’s unique personality and unwavering determination—qualities that I believe will make her an unforgettable icon. While the script is full of humor, it’s the deeper message that resonated with me the most, drawing me into Bae’s vibrant and lively world.”

Executive producer Johar stated: “While there are many stories that follow the rags-to-riches trope, Call me love offers a refreshing twist by turning the genre on its head. It focuses on a young woman from a privileged background, where extravagance was her birthright, who, due to unforeseen circumstances, must now navigate life alone and hustle and reinvent herself in the bustling city of Mumbai.”

Mehta added: “Call me love marks our third original with Prime Video and is a series that is special to all of us. Not only is it a fresh and distinct story that needed to be told, but it also offers a slightly larger-than-life portrait of this very real girl as she learns to navigate life’s many challenges on her own.”
